Chooseday Documentation

Everything you need to run decisions, polls, and quizzes — inside Zoom, Google Meet, or on the web.

Getting Started

Chooseday helps groups make decisions faster. You create a decision, share a link, and everyone votes — no account required for participants.

Create an account

  1. 1Go to app.chooseday.co and click Sign up free.
  2. 2Sign in with Google or enter your email and password.
  3. 3Name your workspace — this is the shared space for your team's decisions.
  4. 4You're in. Your dashboard shows your active decisions and quick-start templates.

Invite your team

On the Team plan, go to Members in the sidebar and enter email addresses to invite colleagues. Invitees receive a link to join your workspace. On the Free and Pro plans, participants can vote via a public link without joining the workspace.

Your workspace

All decisions, quizzes, and analytics belong to your workspace. You can belong to multiple workspaces — switch between them from the top of the sidebar. Workspace settings (name, branding, billing) live under Settings.

Decisions

A decision is a question with a set of options. Participants vote, and Chooseday surfaces the winner in real time.

Create a decision

  1. 1Click + New decision from the dashboard or decisions list.
  2. 2Enter your question (e.g. "Where should we hold the team offsite?").
  3. 3Add 2 or more options (e.g. "New York", "Austin", "Remote").
  4. 4Choose a voting type: Classic, Ranked Choice, or Dot voting.
  5. 5Optionally set a deadline, enable anonymous voting, or restrict voting to workspace members.
  6. 6Click Launch — your decision is live.

Sharing a decision

Every decision has a public voting link (app.chooseday.co/vote/[id]). Share it in Slack, email, or chat. Participants click the link, pick an option, and are done — no account needed.

Anonymous voting

On Pro and Team plans you can toggle anonymous voting per decision. When enabled, vote counts are visible but individual votes are not attributed to any participant. On the Free plan, anonymous voting is always on.

Closing a decision

Decisions close when their deadline expires or when you click Close decision. Once closed, no new votes are accepted. You can record an outcome (the decision that was made) to complete the decision and move it to the archive.

Templates

The dashboard offers starter templates — Plan a trip, Team priorities, and Group choice — that pre-fill a question and options so you can launch in seconds. On the Team plan you can also save custom templates.

Voting Types

Chooseday supports three voting methods. Pick the one that fits how your group makes decisions.

Classic (plurality)

Each participant picks one option. The option with the most votes wins. Best for simple yes/no or one-of-many decisions. Available on all plans.

Ranked Choice (instant-runoff)

Participants rank options in order of preference. Chooseday runs instant-runoff voting (IRV): the option with the fewest first-place votes is eliminated each round and those votes redistributed until one option has a majority. Best for decisions with more than two meaningful alternatives. Available on Pro and Team plans.

Dot voting

Each participant receives a fixed number of points to distribute across options. They can concentrate all points on one option or spread them. Best for prioritization exercises where some options deserve more weight. Available on all plans.

Word Cloud

Participants type a free-text word or short phrase. Responses are aggregated into a live word cloud — more frequent words appear larger. Best for brainstorming and sentiment gathering. Available inside the Zoom and Google Meet addons and via public decision links.

Star Rating

Participants choose a score from 1–5 stars. The live average is displayed to everyone. Best for rating presentations, proposals, or events.

Quizzes

Run host-paced knowledge checks with instant feedback and a live leaderboard.

Create a quiz

  1. 1Click + New quiz from the decisions page.
  2. 2Enter a quiz title.
  3. 3Add questions — each question has a text prompt and 2–4 multiple-choice options.
  4. 4Mark the correct answer for each question.
  5. 5Click Start quiz to make it live.

Running a quiz

Once started, participants can answer questions at their own pace. Each correct answer earns 1 point. After answering, participants see ✅ Correct or ❌ Incorrect instantly. The live leaderboard updates every few seconds.

Leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks participants by total points. In case of a tie, participants who answered faster rank higher. When you end the quiz, the leaderboard shows final rankings with 🥇🥈🥉 medals for the top three.

Quizzes in Zoom & Google Meet

Quizzes run in the Zoom and Google Meet sidebars with the same host-paced flow. The host controls when to reveal each question and can see response counts. See the Zoom App and Google Meet sections for integration-specific details.
